Second Annual Harmony Waltz Gala

The Harmony Program recently held their Second Annual Gala, to benefit the program’s intensive after-school music instruction in under-served New York City communities.

The event took place at the Pierre Hotel, and featured dancing, live music, silent auctions and musical performances in an elegant setting.

One of the many highlights of the evening was a performance by the students of the Harmony
Program, who were thrilled to be playing alongside members of the New York Philharmonic. The kids spent the last few months perfecting their performance and the results were stunning. The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, which has been a long time supporter of the Harmony Program, also provided live music for the event.

After dinner, guests and celebrities who included Gossip Girl’s Zuzanna Szadkowski, recording artist John Fortė and co-chairs Roy and Jenny Niederhoffer put on their dancing shoes, as world-renowned choreographer Melanie LaPatin treated the crowd to a dazzling waltz demonstration and
group lesson. Sotheby’s auctioneer Eli Rodriguez helped the attendees open their wallets and raise funds to purchase a full orchestra of instruments for the Harmony Program.

“The outpouring of support we received was really moving,” said Anne Fitzgibbon, founder and executive director of the Harmony Program. “With this event we were able to raise vital funds for the program, and increase awareness to why music is so important to children as they grow up and go out into the world.”
