Lloyd Ward & Associates hosts Kick Off for Texas Trailblazers Awards Luncheon benefiting The Family

Lloyd Ward & Associates hosted the kick off for the Texas Trailblazers Awards luncheon at their offices in North Dallas recently.

Slated for Thursday, October 6, the luncheon benefits The Family Place and features Sheryl WuDunn, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity Worldwide. The book takes readers through Africa and Asia to meet extraordinary women despite their struggles facing abuses like sex trafficking, forced prostitution and gender-based violence. The stories in the book show how a little help and empowerment can transform the lives of women and girls abroad.

Luncheon chairs Hadley Galt and Honey Rothermel thanked Amanda and Lloyd Ward, hosts and Danielle Austry, for helping with the arrangements for this evening’s event. There was a round of applause when Margot Perot was announced as honorary chair.

Paige Flink, executive director of The Family Place said, “Mrs. Perot’s dedication to issues that affect women has helped The Family Place and other organizations make huge strides in improving the quality of life for women and children.”

The luncheon will also feature presentation of awards, including the Real-Life Hero Award, a new honor to an individual who creates positive change for women and healthy families within our community.

Other Family Place awards to be presented at the luncheon are the Texas Trailblazer Award, Man of Influence Award, Youth Service Award and Scholarship, Advocacy Award.

Event Details: Hilton Anatole, October 6, 2011, 11:30 a.m. Sponsorships start at $1500 and tickets are $125. For more information, contact 214.443.7766 or visit www.familyplace.org.

About The Family Place: It is the largest family violence service provider in the Dallas area reaching out to thousands of victims of family violence each year with award-winning programs that have kept women and children safe for 33 years providing intervention, emergency shelter and crisis counseling services.
