Concern Worldwide’s Winter Ball 2010
12/03/2010 - By New York, NY

Concern Worldwide’s Winter Ball 2010 was a torrid occasion, as more than 150 revelers danced and partied the night away in support of giving some of the world’s poorest children a chance to go to school.

The sold-out event—hosted by Mutual of America in its Park Ave. headquarters’ top-floor party space that has some of the best views of the city—raised more than $50,000 to help fund Concern’s education program in the east African nation of Malawi.

Fr. Jack Finucane, brother of the co-founder of Concern Fr. Aengus Finucane, was on hand to give the invocation and deliver a word of heartfelt thanks to the attendees for taking time out and opening their wallets in support of a vital—if largely invisible—cause.

Winter Ball Chair John Murphy led the proceedings, which included a raffle and auction of a Florida getaway. Raising spirits high, Acapella group “Notes & Keys” and DJ Rollman provided the entertainment. The after-party continued until the wee hours at Niall’s on 52nd St. “We are very grateful for the support of the Winter Ball,” says MacSorley, “Especially at this time of year, it is great to know that these young professionals are committed to making a difference in the lives of children living in extreme poverty.”

Supporters of the event include: The American Ireland Fund, Jet Blue Airways Corporation, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., The Irish Repertory Theatre, Stout NYC, First Derivatives PLC, Wilfie & Nell, Bua, Sweet Afton, Eamonn’s Bar & Grill, Henley and Sloane, GiftsDirect, Siopa.com, JetBlue Airways Corp., The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC, JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes, Angel Feet, LLC, Galway Hooker Pub, Downtown Galway Hooker, and Fiddlesticks Pub & Grill.
