Compass to Care's Gold Ribbon Gala
09/11/2010 - By New York, NY

Compass to Care's Gold Ribbon Gala

On Saturday, September 11th Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation held its very first Gold Ribbon Gala.

A new 501(c)(3) organization, Compass to Care is dedicated to scheduling and paying for the travel arrangements families require to seek the best cancer care for their children. “Many families must travel to metropolis areas, like Chicago, to get cancer care for their children,” commented Michelle M Ernsdorff Compass to Care founder and childhood cancer survivor. “Gasoline, parking fees, meals away from home all become additional expenses that many families cannot cover due to the fact that their medical expenses have risen exponentially and, often, their household income has decline dramatically due to a parent leaving his or her job to care for their child.”

A perfect night held at a mansion in Lincoln Park, guests enjoyed performances by Dan Arrecis from Alive Day, Lisa Matthews, Kevin Mileski and DJ Wiseguy, food by Catered Productions and drinks generously donated by Corona, Winestyles of Glenview and Sobieski Vodka. In addition to an evening of fun with friends and helping a local foundation establish itself as a key resource for children with cancer, many guests walked away with silent auction items donated by Chicagoland businesses. One lucky winner also won a trip to Maui, generously donated by Pure Exhibits and United Airlines. The proceeds from the event went toward funding the foundation’s mission to support children with their cancer journey by helping their families pay for travel costs.
