Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC's Young Professionals Committee's "Big Night Out"

On Saturday, March 5th, 2011, 900 of New York City’s young professionals bet their luck on behalf of the nation’s most established mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC (BBBS of NYC).

Big Night Out is a black tie casino night fundraiser hosted annually by BBBS of NYC’s Young Professionals Committee. All proceeds raised at the event benefit BBBS of NYC’s mentoring programs.

Held at Cipriani Wall Street, Big Night Out featured music from DJ Mode of Level V, Bungalow 8, Canal Room and Sky Bar in Miami, keeping guests dancing from 9 pm until 2 am. During the event, guests enjoyed casino-style gambling and a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament. Attendees had the chance to bid on and win more than 60 of silent auction packages including items from JetBlue, Red Mountain Resort & Spa, Chelsea Piers, Southwest and CheapCarribean.com. Throughout the night, guests enjoyed a premium open bar and gourmet tasting menu and VIP guests relaxed in the VIP Mezzanine lounge area, furnished by Modern Line Furniture. Sponsors included Oz Movers, Starbright Floral, Tania Rohany DMD & Associates, Lord & Taylor, among others.

Big Night Out is the pinnacle event for the Young Professionals Committee and represents a year of planning and active commitment from committee members. The Committee consists of nearly 100 volunteers, professionals in their twenties and thirties working in various industries, who meet monthly to plan innovative fundraising events that will engage their peers to participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. All proceeds from these events, along with contributions from corporate sponsors, go directly to the organization.

Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC has provided volunteer adult mentors to underprivileged children in all five boroughs. Today, the organization serves over 3,000 children and their families. Each year, in addition to providing its one-to-one youth mentoring services, BBBS of NYC helps hundreds of other nonprofit organizations implement new youth mentoring programs in every neighborhood.
