Behind the Book's The Behind the Book Dog Party

On Wednesday, July 22nd, Behind the Book hosted The Behind the Book Dog Party, a family friendly event co-sponsored by the Humane Society of New York.

Dog owners and pet lovers from across the city turned out for the event which featured raffle prizes from local pet care services, delicious goodies for guests and their dogs, and a special presentation by Bill Berloni, the legendary theatrical animal trainer and author. Bill Berloni has trained countless pet stars including Sandy from the original theater production of *Annie*, Toto from *The Wiz*, and Bruiser from the highly successful musical, *Legally Blonde*. Chico (currently playing Bruiser in *Legally Blonde The Musical *) performed tricks and wowed guests with his adorable antics.

Seven lucky guests won a 7 week training class from Follow My Lead, a $100 gift basket from Raising Rover and Baby, a Painting from Gail Rodney Art, a $100 gift certificate from A Cut Above, A $25 Gift Certificate from The New York Dog Shop, a tote bag from Gulliver’s Angels, and a 10 half hour pet care visits from PAWS-NYC.

All of the proceeds from the event are going towards Behind the Book's programs this year, providing curriculum-integrated literacy programs to students in NYC public schools.
