7th Annual Charles B. Benenson Entrepreneur Awards

Project Enterprise, the NYC-based microlending organization that provides small loans, training and more to businesses in under-resourced communities, held its 7th annual Charles B. Benenson Entrepreneur Awards dinner at the Alhambra Ballroom.

Hosted by Carmen Wong Ulrich, Glamour Magazine’s personal finance expert, this year’s honorees included Len Burnett of Uptown Media Group & Vibe Project Enterprise and Kyle Donovan, publisher of NV Magazine. The 2010 Charles B. Benenson Entrepreneur Award went to Karen Vanderburg, the owner of Eternal Beauty Salon in the Bronx.

The Charles B. Benenson Entrepreneur Awards raise awareness of entrepreneurship and funds to support PE's work with entrepreneurs. Business owners seek PE’s resources at various stages of their business to obtain help in the form of financing, leadership training or business building support. Some have received loans as small as$750, while others have borrowed as much as $12,000. In addition to a strong loan repayment record, Project Enterprise looks to reward those who have inspired their fellow members and community.
