2009 Generosity to benefit UJA Federation

UJA-Federation of New York’s annual Generosity event chaired by, Abby Levin, Jerome Shapiro, and Peter Stern gathered 700 Jewish philanthropists

in their 20s and 30s for an evening of sweets, cocktails, and philanthropy on Thursday, January 29, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

UJA-Federation’s Generosity division, chaired by Peter Stern and Aaron Zises is New York’s society for community-involved, socially conscious Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s. These emerging leaders of UJA-Federation of New York, the world largest local philanthropy, recognizing the need for innovative fundraising, utilized a cutting-edge donor-pledge technology that reached beyond the room. Both attendees and those unable to attend were able to instantly text-message gifts from their cell phones or PDAs to be broadcast in real time on multiple screens in the event space and online at, . The success of this year’s event far exceeded the $300,000 raised at last year’s generosity event.
